Mike R. Pomeroy

Mike R. Pomeroy is the founder of Pomeroy International, Inc.

In business since May 1984, Mike has provided services to companies around the world in technology transfer and product development. Creating value through innovation has been the primary focus of more than 250 consulting projects in 19 countries. Mike’s unique background in management, sales, engineering and manufacturing and has helped commercialize 19 new technologies and 32 new products.

International and domestic clients include: Emerson Electric, Astec, Automatic Switch Company, Branson Ultrasonics, Chromalox, Copeland, Digital, Liebert, Ridge Tool, Rosemount Analytical, Skill, Therm-O-Disc, White-Rodgers, Control Techniques, Crouzet Appliance Controls, F-G Wilson, Krautkramer and Leroy-Somer.

His work includes all phases of commercializing new technology: technology assessment, technology acquisition, technology transfer, training, product planning, technology development, product design, tooling design, production facilities, manufacturing sourcing, production ramp-up, sales training and field service training.

Prior to founding Pomeroy International, Mike worked in semiconductor, computer and medical electronics industries including two Silicon Valley start-ups. As Account Manager for Perkin-Elmer, he introduced new scanning projection and reactive ion etching equipment into 9 of his customers manufacturing lines. Sales to AMD and Motorola grew from $5 million to $30 million in 24 months.

Before Perkin-Elmer, Mike was Division Manager then Vice President for Integrated Circuit Engineering. His responsibilities included: starting up a design center and developing 11 Application Specific Integrated Circuits, growing the Training and Publication division 250%, developing 9 wafer fabrication and IC assembly facilities, and transferring semiconductor technology to more than 35 electronics companies.

At Shugart Associates, Mike was Principle Engineer and helped invent the first floppy disc drive used in personal computers, the SA-450 for Apple Computer. Using new technology, he was able to reduce the size of the floppy disk by 75% and cost by 50%. Mike introduced the drive into production and helped start-up 3 manufacturing lines, meeting demand growth of 8% per month.

As an engineer at ADAC Laboratories, Mike helped develop clinical computers, automated nuclear well counters and x-ray generators. He was instrumental in the successful distribution of new products through American Hospital Supply in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Education: Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
